Rummy Forest, a place that I went to often. I enjoyed seeing others get lost and then perishing away because they couldn't find food. They were the weak sort, the sort that didn't deserve to live on this planet anyway. Harks flicked about, wondering who would be the forest's next victim. It put a crooked grin on my face, a pleasant twinkle in my dark brown eyes.
Dark bay frame slipped easily between the large trees, legs lazily walking over the fallen branches. Today was a day like no other, at least right now. As far as I could tell I was the only equine capable of surviving in this place. Apparently humans have moved back in, would they try to take over the wild lands again?
Likely not, I wouldn't allow it. Dished head held high as I walked deeper into the forest. I knew the paths in and out of here. Unlike the unsuspecting quadruped that my scent enticed. How I had enticed many, they had no chance as they followed my intricate path. They starve before they find me, and I was so close by. A shame really.
Ebony cord flicked against my mahogany pelt, a low hum came from my voice box like a lullaby tune. I never knew how it really went, but it was something my dam used to hum to me. Audits listened to the sounds of the birds chirping their songs to each other. Nothing else was heard, but I knew that something was bound to come up. Many were attracted to me, most don't want to admit it, but I knew that they were.

Birds gave warning call up all around the behemoth stallion as he walked through Rummy Forest. They fluttered all around, some getting back to their mates in different trees, others looking down to see who was intruding. Beady eyes, tearing at the pelt of the black taking his time to wherever he was going. The black flicked his tail, sending bushes and small trees wavering. He hoped to scare the birds, knowing they wouldn't dare to come near him anyway. He clearly did not care who saw him or who could hear him, he could smell any coyotes in the area, so he deemed himself safe. For now, anyway. He didn't come here often, the stallion much preferred wide open valleys to cramped, damp forests with no running room unless you plan to have bloody ankles for your whole life. He himself had already caught himself torn bushes, leaving his blood behind on the leaves as well. He didn't need a predator following him. He hated leaving trails, his scent so different among the forest as he smelled of fresh grass and the wind that swept across the moors. Although it smelt like he didn't belong here, he actually knew the place quite well. He had grown up in the area, and his mother made sure to teach him the ways of the forest before she left him. Still, though, he found himself to hate the place.
The light coming from the canopy of leaves shined down on his shadowy pelt, making him look like a lightly dappled horse. Some spots were only a little off-white, while others barely seemed gray. He was a sight to be seen, a huge semi-dappled long legged beast just roaming the forest when he should clearly be out in the valleys racing himself or eagles up above. Then why did he come here? That, the black himself couldn't answer. Maybe he was bored with the valleys for now, looking for a bit of shade in the rising temperature of mid-day. He just found himself entering with no thought, very unusual for him.
A low hum entered his ears, the sound waves making them flicker in curiosity. It was a little ways away, but he could tell he would come to meet whatever was making this noise. From the stomping of hooves, he could tell this creature was a horse. Its gender undetermined by him yet, but he could start to see the becoming of a dark bay horse but a little lighter than him. Sometimes, he was mistaken as a black horse, only a few very dark brown spots showed on his fur. His mane was as dark, if not darker, than his fur, soft and stringy to the touch. He could see the horse had a more fluffy, scattered while his lay flat on his neck. He wondered if it could see him now, as they were not that far apart now. His ears flattened a little, not sure of who it was or what its personality would be like. Best to make himself intimidating, since he didn't know what to expect.

Dead leaves from last years autumn crunched under my hooves with each passing step. Chocolate orbs scanned the area from left to right, looking for the next horse to fall victim to the forest. I enjoyed this time of year, my scent could be more attractive to the stallions. Harks forward, nostrils flared, and I moved on.
However, I caught a scent, making me stop. Excellent, it is time. I turned my frame, observing that I was already being watched. Smirk came on my dark lips as I moved closer to him. His pelt was dark, though not totally black, it was close to it. He was almost much taller then me, but my own stature was thicker boned. I stopped a few feet from him, perhaps closer then what others were more comfortable with.
The smirk on my lips only got more curved as I watched his demeanour. I raised my own slightly dished cranium to be on more level ground with the brute. Ebony cords flicked back and forth across my dark bay bodice. "Hello there, I am Annabelle. What is your name?" I asked. I didn't really care what his name was, why get attached if he was going to die anyway?
I never got attached to anyone, if I got attached to someone I would have less time for myself. And I was everything. Nobody could replace me. I walked a bit closer to him, my orbs leaving his hazel eye pieces as I let them trace over his body. "What brings you to the big bad woods?" I asked, again, I didn't care. If it didn't concern me and only me, I never cared.

The horse was walking closer, and within seconds it was almost up to his nose. The black stopped walking, unsure of what to do next, but showed no emotion on his daunting face. Tail flicking behind him, he was a little agitated now that this now defined mare was up in his face. Only a few hands shorter, he still towered over her. His muscular and tall build didn't seem to stun her as she asked questions that just seemed to slip out of her mouth, almost with no care if he answered at all. He didn't look at her much, just snorted when she almost came up to his chest. Who does she think she is? He stepped back, a solid expression still on his face. He didn't feel like answering her either as her first question rung through the air after introducing herself as...Annabelle.
"What is your name?"
His brain told him just to say his name, clear and flat, with no emotion. But instead, he replied with a more hostile answer that he preferred much better. "What gives you the right to know?" His hazel orbs gazed down at Annabelle who was now looking over his body. He didn't mind, the fems usually found it quite handsome. But this, he hated being treated like he was just something to look at and then be dropped wherever he was. Almost like what happened with his mother, just one day she didn't think anything of him and left.
"What brings you to the big bad woods?"
His eyes narrowed, not moving a muscle. Maybe she was just trying to make friendly conversation, but he didn't know what exactly to make of her. Was she interested? Maybe. Maybe not. As of now, though, he didn't feel like being very friendly from her first impression. The wind blew slightly, almost sending a shiver down his spine. New,, tiny leaves were ruffled about, one little pale green one fell to the ground, and he watched it. He almost forgot about Annabelle's other question, but soon came back to her attention. "I've always been around the forest and I was looking for some shade." His deep timbre was so much different than hers, almost like her hum she was singing before. His tone this time wasn't as hostile or rude, but it still showed some attitude, going slow as he said each word almost unsure of his answer. Still, he lifted his head up high, again looking down at Annabelle.

His height didn't bother me, I wasn't really scared of anything. Except sometimes I scared myself. I scared myself with how fantastic I was being, scared that I wouldn't be able to top my last act. But I always did, I always out preformed my last task. Nothing about him made me want to cower and hide in a dark cave, but then again I had confidence that soared above the majority of equines. It irritated some, some were envious of it, and some tolerated it. I usually ended up with those who were irritated, mostly mares.
I had never 'enjoyed' herd life. When I was born my mother was a loner. She lasted for about four months after my birth and the perished in a tragic lightning strike. The smell of her burning carcass clouded my mind at times, but I usually pushed it away. I never got emotional over the mares death. It was more of a 'how dare she get struck by lightning when she was looking after a goddess'.
The deep vocals of the darker horse that I had come across entered into my audits. His tone was no surprise to me, well maybe a little bit. I easily shrugged it off. "You will tell me your name eventually, so why not get it out of the way now?" I said, I didn't want to bother getting into the logistics of telling him that I was higher than a God and was an all mighty being myself. That alone gave me the right, and the fact that I hadn't seen another mare around here for a while now. I was the only one to claim, unless he wanted a domesticated equine. And who would want those tainted beings?
Now he seemed distracted. I felt like rolling my eyes but I held off the urge. After a bit he spoke, his tone a bit different now. Apparently he lived near here. I hadn't seen him before, or smelt him. I was a bit skeptical, but I didn't question. "Fair enough I guess." I replied, swatting a couple blood suckers on my flanks. Was he going to be boring? I didn't know if he was worth my time, my time was precious. Each moment spent with me was to be preserved by each soul that I crossed. They may not want to think that way, but they did. I knew it.

He looked her over this time, he needed to know what she was capable of doing. This reason only because it was of his interest to claim one of three places unclaimed by any other creature, for he had sought each of them out. Choosing one, he had been looking for others to join. Unfortunately, she was the only one he had come across so far. Their builds, coats, and personalities were all very different from one another. He had a tall, elegant, and muscular build. Annabelle had a shorter, stocky build. He could see why she made her home in the forest, she had a better body type and less of a need to run. For him, if he didn't run he would go completely insane. That would not be good if he was going to be a lead stallion. But especially their personality difference that worried him the most. How would he stand a mare like this? She seemed the one to always prod answers that she wanted out of others, not something he thought would be of his liking.
"You will tell me your name eventually, so why not get it out of the way now?"
It puzzled him for a moment why he would have to tell her his name when he hadn't even mentioned anything about his offer. Well, now would probably be the best time. His eyes made their way back up to her snout and then her eyes. He gave a fake smile, hoping she would see through it so he didn't out his all in it. "How about I make you a deal?" Now it was he who moved closer, circling around Annabelle, ever so slowly. He ducked his head down a little, not in submission of course, he was too good for that, but to look her more in the eyes when he came around her face. "I shall tell you my name if..." Pausing again, he hoped to leave her in suspense. Not only did he pause for this, but to think of how he would word this. He didn't want her to think she could automatically become lead mare, that was still undetermined for he did not find any other mares yet.
"...if you join me in making a herum. But be warned, you will not be lead mare for I have not seen my choices yet." He stopped at her face again, but now his frame was curled around hers but not touching. He looked into her eyes, a mix of curiosity and amusement filling his. Anyway, that should keep her hopes up a little, just enough to want to join him. He simply did not think she would become of that position, but maybe that's what he needed for his lead mare to be. But before he determined that, he would need to find other mares. For the time being, he would be the lead stallion with no counterpart or mate if you wish.

I stood there, in all my glory mind you, watching the dark brute. I could see his mind working, and soon he gave me a smile. I didn't trust it, but I failed to trust others like I trusted myself. I was the most trust worthy mare out there. Most of the time others couldn't see that though, I didn't care. Once horses new that I was trust worthy they wanted me to be their friends and talk to me all the time. I didn't have time for that. I didn't want to hear about their boring lives.
He spoke, harks perked forward as I listened to his words. Invisible brow raised in a bit of curiosity. Patience wasn't exactly my forte, and he was pushing my buttons. And now he was circling me, I felt my eyes harden and my ears start to fall back. They didn't pin though, not quite yet. He went on, though kept it at a cliff hanger. I felt my jaw clench.
He finally finished it. I still felt irritated at him, but at least the bastard finished. I nearly laughed at him, I held it in. However the sly grin on my face wasn't able to be stopped. His long body was curled around me, face close. I could easily snap my jaw, teeth grabbing a hold of his soft supple maw. The blood would spurt out all over the place. But I held in that natural aggression.
Cranium lifted, and I boldly slipped in closer to him. I could feel my shoulder touch his frame, cheeks close to his nape and my mouth close to his ears. "I will join you. But do know that whether you like it or not, I will be your lead." I whispered before moving away. Pillars took me closer to a tree, my head turned as I looked at him. "So, in order to have a harem, you must have a territory. Which one is it?"
